(More customer reviews)Am unable to give actual use of this mower as it arrived with concealed damage to rear wheel bracket causing wheel to be cocked. Bracket bent, and as of now, (have had machine for over 3 weeks) I have been unable to get satisfactory results from Poulan or its online service sites for replacement of the proper bracket so wheel is properly aligned vertically. I believe the mower will work well once this problem is resolved, but so far have not been able to put oil in engine as repair requires mower be placed on side to remove wheel and mounting bracket. Strangely, the Poulan service web site has no info or record of this particular mower model, and a letter to Poulan has as yet to be replied to after over a week and a half. If I can get a new wheel bracket I can replace it myself and start using the mower.....so far I have been stonewalled on this item....... RPQ

(More customer reviews)I've used it several times now and I'm very satisfied with the mower.

Rear Wheel Drive: Works well with the pressure assist handle. The harder you're pushing the faster the wheels turn. It helps on the big hills.

Clean Out Feature: Attach the hose and let the blades clean out the under carriage. Works very well and helps motivate you to keep the mower clean.

Mulching: Works great. I slow down through the tall grass and it doesn't leave any piles behind. I plan to use mulch almost exclusively.

Engine: Started up when I wasn't even pulling hard. I was just working the oil into the engine and it kicked off...very easy start. I used it in very deep grass the other day and it had plenty of power to chop through the worst of it.

Side chute: Attached it the other day going through a large section of very wet/muddy, very tall grass. Probably should have weed whacked it but I don't have one yet so I mowed. It was a mess. The wheels were spinning and I was sliding all over the place but the mower never faltered and plowed through a very messy job. The clean out feature worked very well that day.

We had just moved into a house that was vacant for a year. Our lawn has not been cared for and the first few mows have been brutal. Even walking the yard a bunch of times I could not get all the debris and limbs out but the Toro blew through them like it was nothing. I've been very impressed with this mower so far.

I take care of my tools and will clean and winter prep it properly not to mention getting the blades sharpened each year. I plan to have this mower for many, many years.

Used it last summer, put it away for winter and all the oil had drained out creating a huge mess. Home Depot, where I purchased it said that they've had problems with it but since I had put gasoline in it they couldn't accept it as a return.

What I like:

- Light weight.Light enough to manuever with one hand while the other hand tends the cord on turns.ALSO, this holds easily going across an incline, rather than up, which is hard on the lower back, or down, which is hazardous.

- Height adjustment is spring-loaded, and counter-balanced just right.Raising and lowering cutting height is quick and easy.It lowers in a snap from preferred lawn cutting height to its lowest setting for grass or leaves on the drive or street, whichquickly turn to near dust for ease of blow-off.

- It mulches great across the lawn; much, much better than the last 2 gas mowers I've owned.That's probably more due to design than power source -- but the mulching is the point.The clippings from one week's growth just disappear.And the St. Augustine grass common here in Florida doesn't mulch as easily as the bluegrass of Kentucky, as memory serves.

- A metal cutting deck, rather than the plastic offerings from a couple of competitors.

I can't speak to how well the bag works; haven't tried it.Bagging is a waste of time, effort, and fertilizer, imho ...

Drawbacks:

- uhhh ... It doesn't make enough noise to wake the neighbors.(Long story ...)

The padding on the handle is not durable.Not at all.But I see some padded bicycle handlebar tape in its future.

(More customer reviews)I've had two lawn tractors before I got the Poulon. I got the Poulon direct from the factory in a wooden crate. Getting the machine uncrated was not difficult after I realized I needed to let some air out of the tires so they would pull out of the slats holding the machine firmly in place. All I needed to do was attach the steering wheel, you'll need a cresant wrench. The mower already had oil in it. Added gasoline and it started right off first try. It cuts cleaner (more smoothly) than my old Ranch King. One thing I really like about the Poulon is the extreme ease of manuvering it around. It was almost like I have power steering as compared to the Ranch King or a MTD I owned several years ago. The Poulon makes far sharper turns than the others; not quite zero radius but a lot nearer to it. Another feature I really Appreciate is the neutral key position you can activate in order to cut while in reverse. The feature whereby you can set the hand brake and leave the mower still running, while you get off to remove something in the way, is a big help too. I haven't had the mower long enough to evaluate its longevity; but up to now its been one fine machine.
