(More customer reviews)We have just used this spreader for two days, but we are impressed with the design and the sturdiness of it.It is built to travel over our rather lumpy pastures and not jam, change its settings or break, as several previous spreaders have done.It really can carry 250 lbs of lime, etc.There is an internal screen that keeps hard lumps out of the spreading mechanism, and a cover that keeps rain from altering the flow of material.
I have two complaints.The first is that the hand control to open the feed of material and start spreading is impossible to reach while seated on our lawn tractor.We have a long hitch because it has to fit under large grass catch bins.It is awkward to get off the tractor to open the chute because of course the lime or fertilizer immediately starts to flow down and out while you race to get moving forward.We are planning to make some kind of extension on the control handle.
The other complaint is that the packaging of this item was competely inadequate for shipping.The first one arrived totally smashed and had to be returned.The second one arrived in a box that had clearly blown open and we worried that some of the hardware would be missing.Fortunately it was all there.A sturdier box and some supportive packing material is needed for this heavy and irregularly shaped item
